THIS PROJECT WILL HAPPEN. We just can't say when. There have already been a couple delays but this is because of funding. There are other emergencies that happen in our state that cause Sweeten Creek to take a step back.
- We are confident that we will be able to keep bldg. 1 and 2 because in our area, all the residential properties are on the right side, so they will probably widen to the west.
- It is more cost efficient to go with a large concrete sound absorbing wall to divide us from the road.
- We will probably lose the white fencing and all the trees along the road and maybe even the front entrance structure, but all these things will be purchased from us so that we will have funds to rebuild.
- The DOT and the project engineers have strict standards they must follow for building new roads, and because of the traffic patterns and the safety factor, Park Avenue, Ballentree, and Hollybrook will not be getting an opening in the median to take a left out of here. We will all be turning right and going to a U turn bulb with traffic lights where there will be a green light to take a U turn to continue going south. The engineers are not sure where the U turn bulb will be but it is possible it could be somewhere in the area of the Carolina Day ball field. There will be a traffic light where ever the u turn is and it will be a much safer route without blocking traffic flow. This U turn will also get you coming home from the north on Sweeten Creek, where you would have to continue down to the traffic lights at Givens Estate to make a U turn to return home.
- Road construction will begin at the intersection of Airport Road. The DOT projects that the project will take 3 years to the finish line at Rock Hill Road.
- So if you have any questions, There is a very large panel of experts that received 700 pieces of feedback from all of the neighborhoods including us, on Sweeten Creek and they have addressed most everything in a document that is posted on:
